Luke 17:12-19

Leprosy is a contagious disease of the East, and medicine still does not know its cause. And so, nor its cure. The leper rots while still alive, over a long period of time.

Leprosy is one of the hasher death sentences.

It's a biblical punishment.

The Scripture shows us that in order to stop people’s evil deeds and sins, God punished even with leprosy.

Thus, looking at the origins of leprosy, you find out that it is the soul’s sin, which brings with it the punishment of the body, but it also brings the health of the soul, which is humility.

The disease appears first in the soul. This is a conclusion of modern medicine. Scripture clarifies what medicine affirms.

This is the reason that the doctors were priests and the priests were doctors in antiquity.

Returning to the Holy Gospel, today, when the mercy of God comes in person to look for and to clean His punished people, He does not find gratitude in Israel.

But He found it among strangers, such as a Samaritan.

This is why it is said that Blessing and Gratitude are two virtues, which never meet in the same place.

Here is another sorrow of Jesus; nine out of ten returned once more to evil things.
